Dear readers,
It’s August, and much of the world is experiencing record-breaking heat and rising food insecurity as another wave of the pandemic looms. Global inequities are glaring: From the impacts of climate change to vaccine access, things are looking grim.
And we’re here to talk about… data?
Yes, that’s right. Data is critical to identify and tackle the world’s biggest problems. This is as true for bureaucrats making policy as it is for people advocating for change around the world and at home. But more and better data isn’t cutting it. That’s why the Data Values Project and this Digest have sought to spark conversations at the heart of creating a future where all people benefit from the promise of data.
This month, we’re pausing the Data Values Digest as we gear up for the #DataValues campaign and manifesto launch in late September (more on that soon).
In the meantime, instead of our regular post this week, we’re asking for your input to help shape the focus of this publication. We’ll be exploring new topics and seeking new guest authors in coming months, and we’d like your input to guide these decisions. Below, you’ll find 5 simple questions. We welcome you to provide more detailed suggestions or feedback by emailing us at DataValues@Data4SDGs.org or commenting on this post.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts:
If you’ve made it this far then thank you so much for your input! We’ve got an exciting slate of new authors and topics lined up for the fall, and we’re always looking for more voices to feature in the Digest and include in the campaign. If you’re interested in contributing, please send us an email at DataValues@Data4SDGs.org. We welcome your feedback.
With care,
Jenna and Janet
